Benoît Lecat, Ph.D. is the wine and viticulture department head and professor of wine business at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. His research and professional interests focus on pricing issues in the wine and spirits industry, branding, management of luxury goods, food and wine in Burgundy, social networks, terroirs and wine and spirits tourism. Lecat brings a global perspective to his position with experience in Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, Romania and France before joining Cal Poly in 2015.

As the daughter of wine industry pioneer Jerry Lohr, Cynthia Lohr spent some of her youth in the vineyards and at the wineries, absorbing aspects of the wine industry firsthand. As an adult, she chose her own path, establishing a reputation for excellence in strategic marketing and public relations, working with a who’s who of leading internet and technology companies. In 2002, Lohr joined the family business as director of communications for J. Lohr Vineyards & Wines, and in 2009, she was named marketing vice president. Lohr graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French with a minor in psychology from UC Davis.

Nicholas Miller is the vice president of sales and marketing for his family’s vineyards, winery services and wine labels. His family owns and operates the French Camp Vineyards in Paso Robles, Bien Nacido and Solomon Hills Vineyards in the Santa Maria AVA, two custom crush facilities (Central Coast Wine Services in Santa Maria and Paso Robles Wine Services) and Turn Key Wine Brands. He represents the companies on several boards, including as director of the California Association of Winegrape Growers. In 2013, Miller was selected by Wine Enthusiast for their first-ever selection of Top 40 Under 40 Tastemakers in the United States.

Tim Snider

After graduating from Williams College in Massachusetts, Tim Snider embarked on a 7.5-year stint at the E&J Gallo Winery, gaining broad industry experience starting at the bottom as a street sales person and culminating as marketing manager working on successful brands Ecco Domani and Marcelina. He left Gallo in 1999 to head up marketing and sales at Fess Parker Winery and in 2010 was named president. Over the course of his time with the winery he has been instrumental in the growth and development of the family’s wine business.

Kim Stemler has been the executive director of the Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association for the last three years. Prior to this she had her own management consulting practice for more than 15 years providing organizational development, strategic planning, policy and marketing services. Stemler earned her master’s degree in administrative science from The Johns Hopkins University. The Commission on the Status of Women selected her as an Outstanding Woman of Monterey County in 2011 and she has been a long-standing member of the Rotary Club of Monterey

Skylar Stuck has 26 years of experience in the wine industry, including work as a distributor salesman in New York City for Winebow Distributing, as a regional manager for Clicquot Inc. in Texas, and as the VP/director of sales for Hope Family Wines in Paso Robles. He has spent the last 6 years as general manager at Halter Ranch Vineyards. He holds an M.A. in international relations from The Johns Hopkins University, Nitze School of Advanced International Studies. Following a career as an economist, Stuck traded his vocation for his avocation and launched his career in the wine industry.
